Growing Girl!

I've been really, really, really busy lately. So busy I coudn't write. I've been growing, that's what I've been busy doing! Lots of things have happened. I'm cutting my first tooth (ouch!), I'm eating cereal now (yum!), and we had these two awesome holidays called Thanksgiving and Christmas (fun!).
My family is always around. Here is my Aunt Ruthie. She lives in Florida and I've never met her before. I'm glad I finally got to see her. She's super nice! Below is me with those silly Tomczuks. I love to laugh and play with them but sometimes Aunt Kelly makes me cry. I just like to tease her. I secretly really love her.

The really big news is Daddy let me drive the van. JUST KIDDING. He let me practice, though. I think I did a pretty good job. Lately, Mom has the camera in my face all the time. But more on that later!

Sophers

At the Sock Hop!

So about 13 days ago my mom and dad went a little crazy. They dressed me in all black and put this pink frilly skirt on me. Mom made me where these glasses that made the whole world look dark and everyone took lots of pictures of me.

Mom and Dad even dressed up funny. I guess that's what all these people are calling Halloween?

Next year Mommy says we can get me some candy from strangers. So now I'm confused, because I thought I WASN'T supposed to take candy from strangers. Grownups sure are weird.

Pumpkins Everywhere!

A couple of weeks ago Mom and Dad took me to the Red Barn Farm. It was really cold. Grandma and Grandpa Rinard went with us and we met Uncle Todd, Aunt Ang, Olivia, and Julia there. It was really need and I got a tiny pumpkin for myself.
We even took a hay ride out to the pumpkin patch, where Mommy and Daddy picked out our family pumpkin. In a few years, I'll get to pick out my own. But for just right now, I'm not really into that sort of thing.

After the pumkin patch we came back to our house. Grandma and Grandpa Rinard stayed for dinner and the Grandma Rinard babysat me! We has so much fun! I don't get to see her quite as often so that special bonding time was really nice! See what a cute pair we make?

Love,
Sophie

A Trip to the Farm

Daddy went to his college last weekend to cheer on the little monkies at Pitt State and Mommy and I went to the farm. Her bestest friend Christy's parents live up there. We went to the Northwest parade and saw Alyssa in her rubix cube costume. Then Mommy and Christy went out and I stayed in Carolyn, Christy's Mommy. It was a lot of fun. Paula's kids were there so I made friends. I was a pretty good baby, too! I saw lots of farm land and it was really fun. The shopping was a tad scarce. Just Maurices, which is awesome, but that's all they had. Not even a Babies R' Us! Can you even believe it!

Love,
Sophers.

Once a Bearcat...

A few weeks ago I went to visit my cousin, Alyssa, at Northwest. Only the coolest people go to that school. My mom told me so. It was pretty amazing. Mom made me wear this ridiculous outfit that involed a tutu. At least my bow was normal sized. Anyway, we drove an hour and a half with Abby and La. Abby was really quiet and she read the whole time. Olivia...wasn't. She kept really good company. Then we saw Alyssa's dorm. I used my lungs to tell all the hungover freshman hello. Then we saw her sorority dorm, the union, and the kissing bridge. And OF COURSE we had to check out Walmart and the Jock's Nitch. It was a really great time. Alyssa invited me to stay the night but Mom said no way Jose'. What a bummer she is!

Always a Bearcat,
Sophie

Happy 1/12th Birthday to Me...

So, folks, I'm officially a month old today. Can you believe it? I've come so far! Though walking and talking is still a ways off, I'm making some developments all the same. I'm eating four ounces of milk, now. And I can go for four hours without eating...sometimes more! That makes my parents pretty happy.

My neck is also getting stronger. I hold it up for several seconds at a time. I like to look at the world around me. I'm very curious. Another thing I've discovered is watching things. My favorite thing to watch is my mom (because she's so pretty) and my dad ('cause he's pretty, too) but I'll also track my mobile and look at myself in the mirror Aunt Kelly bought me (who's the fairest of them all?).

Mom has been putting me on my tummy for "tummy time." Not sure what that's supposed to accomplish, but Doc said to do it, so she is.

Here's some pictures of what I've been up to. This here is Abby. She represents all the Adams side cousins that love to hold me. And I love it when they hold me, too!!! Oh! And on the Rinard side today, I got to meet Brooklynn and Jacob for the first time via video chat. It was awesome!I had two playdates in one day. I was a busy busy girl. Here in the blue is my friend James Sallman. We tried to hold hands but Daddy said no! Earlier that day, when we were still in our P.J's, I had a date with Evan Griffin. Aren't they both so cute!

So, that's what's been going on so far. Mommy's been getting everything ready for me to go to Aunt Angie's house. I'm really going to miss Mommy but I'm excited to play with Aunt Angie and all my new friends at her house! Sorry I've been so lax on my posting. I'll write again soon!

Love,
Sophie

I'm a Catholic

Yesterday was a very special day for me. Mommy and Daddy took me to St. Gabriel's Church to be baptized. First, they spent all day cleaning, cooking, and planning. Then they got all dressed up and Grandma and Grandpa Rinard came over and when went to church. Mommy put this long white dress on me and everyone told me how pretty I looked. Then I fell asleep for a good two hours. What happened while I was asleep was that Fr. Joe Sharbel put oil and water on me and I became Catholic, bam, just like that. I did a great job. I didn't even cry. Then my Godmother, Aunt Kim, but a stole around my neck and my Godfather, Pete, lit a candle for me. It was a pretty special day.

After mass we took some pictures and headed up to home. Mommy and Daddy prepared this wonerful party for everyone and it was great. Plus Grandma Cathy made meat and tomatoes and Grandma Rinard made some great potato salad. And everyone kept talking about Daddy's mac and cheese but I couldn't eat any of it. I had to stick with milk. It's the bummer life of a newborn. Life's hard.

Cleanliness is Godliness (see next post as well)

Well, my mom says she doesn't want a stinky kid. So I really feel bad about all the poopy diapers but, hey, a girls gotta go when a girls gotta go. In order to make sure I'm NOT a stinky kid my mom said one day...it's BATH time. This sounded like so much fun. Let me tell you. It wasn't. I still had my dis-gus-ting umbilical cord stump in so it was a "sponge" bath. But really, it was a freezing cold horror story.

We did this every couple of days and I looked like this every time. You would think she would get the idea that I DON'T LIKE IT, but she didn't. She said this was hygienic and it was good for me. I don't believe her.

So about a week after that my umbilical cord fell out. Mom said it was time for a real bath. I was a little worried. But the day before my baptism (see next post) she went ahead as planned. This time she filled my little tub with wonderful warm water. My little bum and backside could feel it and it felt niiiiiicccce. Much nicer than the freezing cold torture of the days before. You can tell three things from the pictures I've posted. First and most importantly, I enjoyed my bath immensely. Secondly, haven't I gotten big??? And thirdly, I'm not yellow anymore. That horrid bilibed did the trick.

I'm Worth What??!!

Mommy and Daddy got the bill for me in the mail today. Turns out Mommy lied. I'm not priceless. I'm worth around $15,000. Whoa. That's crazy. Thank goodness for insurance.

I went to see the doctor today. Dr. Baysa is really nice, except she kept pushing on me and stuff. But she didn't give me any shots so I like her. I weigh 8lbs 8oz now, that's 4oz up from my birth weight. Doc said I'm doing a good job growing. Now my height is a little crazy. I measured at 22 and 1/2 inch. Mommy thinks it was 21 and 1/2 because she saw the nurse measure me. Maybe something was lost in translation--but if it wasn't, that means I grew and inch and a half...WOW! I'm guessing that comes from my Daddy. Just a hunch.

I'm not doing too well sleeping through the night. I had a couple of good nights but then I decided not to sleep unless someone was holding me. Who can blame me--it's so cozy in the arms of my mom and dad. But Dr. Baysa said I might be more comfortable slightly on my side. So we tried that at naptime I slept in my bed like a champ.

I also have some tummy problems. Since Mom only feeds me her milk about two or three times a day, my formula has been messing with my system. The Dr. gave me some really cool formula to try that helps gassy and fussy babies...which I am (at night).

I'll post some pictures soon. I've really been getting around. I've finally met all of my Adams family side but I wish I could meet my Colorado Rinard family. I hear they are awesome!!

Later,
Love,
Soph

I'm From Outer Space!

Life at home has been pretty wild. Mommy and Daddy and I were up partying all night. Let me tell you, those folks are ANIMALS. They kept me up all night. Mommy kept feeding me over and over again but I'll tell you about that a little later. Then she finally handed me over to Daddy. Weirdly enough I was hungry and went for him--but he told me he didn't have any food. So Mommy broke down and went to the kitchen and came back with some food. FORMULA was what she called it. After that I slept soundly...I just couldn't keep up with those crazies any longer.

So today Mommy and Daddy took me to North Kansas City Hospital. I thought, "Hey! I remember this place!" They got my bilirubin tested and then they came home and we all took a long nap. Then we went to see Dr. Mathew at the pediatrician's office. She told us I had Jaundice and I had to go BACK to get my OTHER foot stabbed by the KU fanatic at North Kansas City Hospital. I thought, "Ok, folks. This is ridiculous. I know it was my first home, but really. One visit a day is enough."

What they learned was that I had to get my bilirubin down and that I had to lay on this weirdo bed from outspace. It's pretty warm and cozy, but it really boring. The worst part is that Mommy and Daddy can only hold me to feed and change me. Mommy cried a whole lot when she heard that.

So here's the deal. Mommy's having a hard time feeding me and so I won't poop. So now I get Mommy's milk and the FORMULA from Daddy and they are hoping that I'll poop and pee a little bit more.

Love,
Sophie

Hello World!

Whoa, friends. What a ride I just had. Let me tell you, it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. I thought I'd prance right into this world and into my mother's arms. No-sir-ee. It took a while. Just ask all my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins that were in the waiting room for hours. But eventually I came out!
And I sure am glad I did. It was pretty scary leaving my warm home and coming into this one, but when I was put in my mother's arms it was worth it. Then the nurses took me away and cleaned me up. No sooner had I been given back to my mother than in came the rush!

First I got to meet my grandparents. They are so wonderful! And those grandmas kept saying wonderful things about me. Like "She's absolutely beautiful!" and "How precious!" I can tell how much they love me.

Next were the aunts, uncles, counsins, and Pete. They loved on me just the same. It was wonderful. I kept my pretty eyes open the whole time so I could see my new family.
Now, I'm going to wait for Dr. Baysa, my pediatrician, to come check me out and then we can go home. I can't wait to see it. Daddy tells me it's wonderful and Mommy showed me pictures of the nursery.
Love,
Sophie
P.S. I'll share pictures of the rest of my friends and family visiting a little later.

Still Swimming

Well, I guess I was wrong about that being my last post before I joined you all in the world. Because here I am, still enjoying the warmth and comfort of Mommy's belly. Mommy went to the doctor this past Thursday. She was really feeling optomistic because I was due to come that day (Uncle Todd's birthday!). But he gave her the bad news that she wasn't dilated or anything. My little baby self is enjoying it was too much in here. So he scheduled her for an appointment and an induction the following Thursday. At least we know I'll be here by Friday, August 7th. That's the day Aunt Michelle guessed I'd be born. What a good guess!

But Mommy keeps hoping and praying that I come sooner. She really wants to meet me and I want to meet her. I hear her voice talking and reading and yelling at Daisy and I wonder what's in that world out there. Sometimes I do things that make her think I'm coming. Like last night, for instance. I made her belly contract and hurt all night so she thought that maybe today would be the day. But then I decided I wanted to swim some more so I stopped. Sorry about that, Mom.

Well, if not before, I'll see all of you in just four short days.

Love,
Sophie

For Olivia, My Cuz

This post is soley for my youngest cousin on my Adams side, La. But everyone can read it, because I love everyone. The reason this post is for my cousin La is because she is such an avid reader of my blog and I've disapointed her by not blogging as often. Sorry, La. I'll get better once I'm born (if that ever happens) because there will be cuter pictures to show and more to blog about. I hear the wide world out there is way cooler than this dark womb I've been swimming in. I don't do so much swimming anymore, though, because I'm too big and I'm running out of room.

Mommy and Daddy have been super busy with my room. It is finally done! I can't wait to see it for myself but I hear a lot about it. Mommy sits in there a lot and she's been reading me books. She says we're going to get a free book from the library for the summer program. I tried to tell her I don't think prenatal reading counts but she won't listen to me.

Below is a slideshow of what my room looks like. I know a lot of love went into it. I hope my next post will show pictures of me. The real me. The born me. I bet I'll have quite a story to tell everyone, then. Stayed posted...tomorrow is ETA!!!

Finally, Some Action

Well, though I'm still feeling nice and cozy in this womb of mine, I am starting to get ready to join the rest of you in the world. Mommy's uterus has been contracting a little. Nothing too painful--just uncomfortable at this point. She gets them more and more frequently and each time wonders "Will this be it?" No, Mom, I'm not quite finished cooking yet! I need to get some fat on these bones. Three days ago was my cousin Taylor's birthday and yesterday was my aunt Jan's. Today is Uncle Tim's birthday and, of course, I'm due on Uncle Todd's. We wondered if I'd share a birthday with someone. It looks as though Uncle Todd is the only one left to wonder about...unless something miraculous happens today!

Mommy is trying to be patient. Once I come, her life will change forever. She can't wait to meet me and I can't wait to meet her and Daddy and all my grandmas and grandpas and aunties and uncles and cousins and friends. But I'll come when I'm ready, and Mommy knows that.

She went to Maryville with Aunt Kelly and my cousins Alyssa and Abby two days ago. She wasn't feeling any contractions then so she felt confident she wouldn't be having a baby on the road. Anyway, on the way home they had a flat tire. And would you believe no one would stop for a nine-month pregnant lady!! Even my cousin Alyssa's little shorts wouldn't stop anyone. But that's OK. Between the four of them they stayed safe, called highway patrol and started to change the tire on their own. Great job! Mommy knew that if that action didn't send me into the world that she had some waiting to do still.

Sophie

Still Cookin'

Hello, friends and family. I got to tell you, this womb? It's great! It's warm and cozy and super safe. I don't even have to cry to get what I want. Heck, I don't even have to breath to stay alive. So I decided to just stay here and get fat for a while. That way I have nice chubby baby cheeks when I get through cookin'.

The doc says I'll probably not make an appearance for a few weeks, yet. Of course, they have been known to be wrong and it's all up to me. But for now, I'm just going to sit and wait out my time. Until I run out of room (which I am dangerously close to doing) I'll be here...inside the belly, no out.

(P.S. Mommy's not dilated or efaced so don't get your hopes up. We'll keep you updated!)

Love,
Sophie

My First Emergency Phone Call

Last night at around 12:30 Mommy and I woke up to this loud beeping noise. Right away, she knew it was the carbon monoxide detector. She woke Daddy, who was a little delerious. After seeing that the detector said "GAS" they grabbed Daisy and their phones headed out the door. Mommy called 911 because they didn't have the number for the fire department. They transferred them and the nice KCFD came out and checked out house out while Mommy and Daisy hung outside in the middle of the street in their P.J.'s (OK, Mommy was in ripped shorts and the only T-shirt that fits, Daisy doesn't have P.J.'s...yet). Our neighbor Flo came out to see what was going on. Turns out, when Daddy left the car running inside the garage it sent off some gases (Mommy told him so). It took a while to get up to where the detector was but that's what did it. Phew! I'm so glad we didn't blow up. Mommy doesn't like fires very much and she tossed and turned all night. Glad that's over with.

I've Decided to be Cooperative

Well, after Mommy stood on her head, tried to trick me with a flashlight, and sweet talked me all weekend, I was feeling a little guilty. Then, on Saturday, I heard all these really loud noises and boom and bangs and I got scared. So I decided to turn around. Mommy and Daddy went to the doctor on Monday and found out that I am right side up...or butt side up, rather. The doctor said, "Well, I thought that was a head up above but it also feels like a head down below." Mommy said, "Uh, doc? Two heads mean two babies, that's not a good thing!" But the doctor just laughed and brought in the sonogram machine (who knew they had one of those things?). It wasn't as nice as the 60 in. plasma Mom and Dad had been used to seeing me on, but it was nice to say hello to them anyway. I was sucking my thumb---just like my Mom used to do. I'm still nice and cozy in here but hopefully I'll be making my debut in just three short (long) weeks.

Sophie Rinard

Inside, Outside, Upside Down

Mommy went to the doctor on Monday and he told her some news. First, she isn't dilated. That's OK, because I'm not due to be here for another few weeks. The other thing he told her was I'M UPSIDE DOWN. I knew this, of course, and Mommy and Daddy had suspicions, but this confirmed it. Well, the doctor is going to see what's going on this Monday (just three days away!) and if I'm STILL upside down (which, to be honest, I might be. I kind of like it this way) then he will have to schedule a version. Mommy thinks this sounds painful and I think it sounds like an invasion of my rights as a fetus. Who is he to tell me which way to hang? But I guess that's the way it is. If the version doesn't work, Mommy might have to have a C-section, which isn't ideal.

So lately some weird things have been happening, since they heard this news. First, Mommy and Daddy talk to me in these nicey nice voice asking me to pretty please move. Then all of a sudden, if feels as though MOMMY's upside down, on her head. Weird. Doesn't she know she's eight months preggo? Finally, last night, a flashlight appeared at my head and moved down to my feet. What do they think I am? A moron? I'm cozy right here. Thanks for trying, though. Maybe I'll move next week.

Sophie

More Showers??!!

Everyone in my Mommy's life is so generous and loving. We can hardly believe how excited they are for my birth. Last week all my aunts threw me a baby shower. It was at Aunt Angie's house--somewhere I'll become very familiar with come the fall (she's watching me). The cake was too cute and had a NON-edible baby butt on it (Mommy and I checked). I got lots of beautiful gifts that will help my Mommy's life be easier after I am born.

Then Aunt Christy (not to be confused with my real Aunt Christie--in Colorado) threw Mommy a shower with all of her friends. It was a fun shower with a cake that Jeni Dootlittle made (11 days after having my friend Sofia Ryan) and a chocolate fountain--talk about YUM.

It's so nice to feel so loved. I can't wait to meet all these people who will become part of my life. In just 4 short weeks, I'll be able to look up at them with my cute little eyes (blue, green, brown?) and know what each of them look like.

Until then,
Sophia Rinard

Anniversary!

While all these fun things have been going on, I've been busy growing, growing, growing. Mommy and I played a fun game the other night. I'd kick her and she'd poke me back. Then I'd kick her and she'd poke me back. It was like our very first game of tag. Mommy was giggling in the middle of the night to herself while Daddy snored away beside her.

Last weekend, my parents celebrated their first anniversary. Can you believe it's already been a year? Good thing, too, because I'm on my way. Well, Mommy and Daddy drove to Weston and spent some time walking the downtown there. It was a perfect day, and Mommy didn't even mind all the walking. Best news is--they bought me something! A really cute bow for my hair. That Daddy of mine; he's a sucker for bows. Me and Mom know that will get him every time. Then they went to Atchison, where they got engaged two years ago. They did some shopping, did a "car tour" of Daddy's old high school, and visited the spot where Daddy asked Mommy to marry her. Then, they went to the show to see "Up" and the get ice cream at Zona Rosa. To finish off the night, they stayed in the exact same suite they had on their wedding night. How romantic.

Shower Me With Love-Work Edition

As I said last post, Mommy and Daddy's coworkers gave them each a shower. Both were so nice. Mommy's shower was the Wednesday before school was out, the 27th. Her teammate Shana did a nice job planning. Pictures might be here one day, but I don't have any right now. Sorry about that. I normally make sure Mommy has her camera with her at all times.

Then, on Monday June 1st, Dadddy's lawyer friends gave him a shower. Mommy got to go to that one, too, because, let's face it, everyone likes to see the belly (that's me!). Everyone was so nice and Sarah did a great job planning. Thanks! Here's a picture of their cake. I sure enjoyed it!
Everyone at Southwood and Legal Aid was so generous and kind. We all really appreciate their thoughtfulness. It means a ton. I can't wait to meet each and every one of them!!
Love,
Sophia

Shower Me With Love-Surprise Edition

Mommy, Daddy and I have lots of people who love us and care about us. We've had three showers already, two of which were a complete surprise!! Mommy's friends at work gave her a shower last week. I'll write about that later when I have pictures. Also, Daddy's friends at HIS work are giving us a shower tomorrow. I'll post that later, too. Right now I want to tell you about the surprises. A while ago Mommy's Little Saints (the kids in her 4th and 5th grade religion class) gave her a surprise shower. Jeni baked a cake and all the kids brought cute little gifts. Joyce organized it all and Mommy even got a book of advice for how to raise me. It was a lot of fun, and I got some cute outfits. The cake was delish and Mommy was REALLY surprised, which doesn't happen very often.

Then, last week, Mommy went to her Bunko group. It had been a looooong day for us and she almost tried to get an emergency sub because she was so tired. But she decided she really missed her Bunko friends and decided it to stick it out. Aunt Christy was talking about going to Target and had a long explaination about why she had to go to Target BEFORE Bunko, but Mommy didn't think anything of it. When she got to Michelle's house, Michelle wisked her up a million stairs to look at some super cute outfits (which Mommy ALSO thought was out of character for Michelle, but again, didn't think much of it). When they got back downstairs there were two diaper cakes and lots of little cutie things for me to wear and play with. Everyone had bought me a $5 gift instead of giving a $5 buy-in. What a surprise!!! It was so nice of everyone. Mommy opened her gifts and then they played Bunko. I feel so special they would think of me. It really meant a lot. As you can see, Mommy's not really dressed for pictures...they had a Royal's theme and this is all that fit her. Thanks Papa Adams for loaning the shirt.

Talk Show Host or Country Western Singer?

Today Mommy, Daddy and I had a special surprise. They went in to the see the genetic counselor (because all the doctors kept pressuring Mommy so she finally gave in). The counselor was very funny and friendly and she began to make a family tree. Mommy told the nice lady that she was going to run out of room on that little piece of paper. Sure enough... Anyway, the lady said that most likely if my chromosomes were messed up I wouldn't have made it this far. She said that Mommy's side of the family had tested the theory and there were PLENTY of healthy babies to prove it. Then she told them that they would get another sonogram. Mommy said it was the best day of her life...but she was just kidding, I think.

I played a lot when we were in there. I grabbed a hold of my toe-sies and put my hands on my head. The whole time my mouth was open. I was singing and talking and kissing hello to my parents. I couldn't stop moving...it's so fun swimming around in here. The doctor once again told my parents I was a girl, and showed them the parts to prove it...How embarrassing!

It was a fun day. I'll post pictures of myself soon, so everyone can see. I still look alien-ish, but much more like a baby than last time. Oh yeah, I weigh a whopping 2 lbs 7 oz and I'm measuing 28.9 weeks instead of 27.8 like I really am. I think I may have Daddy's build.

Sophie Rinard

I'm a Supermodel

Mommy and Daddy's friend Amanda Mills from ACM Photography came over today to take pictures of me. I think I did a pretty good job of smiling...hope you can tell.

While we were taking pictures my BEST friend, Daisy, tried to butt her way into them. She thought this was HER photo shoot. She does look darn cute, though.

I think Mom and Dad had a lot of fun taking the pictures. They like to laugh a lot. In this picture, Daddy is playing music for me. He likes to do that before bedtime sometimes.

In this picture, Daddy is kissing me. Sometimes he talks to me and occasionally he'll try to get me to kick him. Isn't he a handsome Daddy? I already love him!

This is our little family. Daddy, the oldest, Mommy, the much younger second, Daisy, their first baby, and ME--just 27 weeks old.

This last picture is of Mommy. She's really growing, but that's because I am, too! She pats me and talks to me and I wonder what she'll be like. I bet she wonders the same thing about me.

Amanda did a really great job on the photographs. They turned out perfect. Can't wait to see them on my nursery wall!

Until next time,
Sophia Rinard

I Think I Caused Some Trouble Today

Today Mommy was on her merry way to work. She was jammin' in the car and pretty happy with herself for being sort of earlier than she had planned. Aunt Kelly and she weren't carpooling today, which was unfortunate. All of a sudden, Mommy got really sleepy. Then she got really really hot, which is unusual for my mom. Then she got dizzy, nauseous and started blacking out all at the same time. This concerned her a little, especially since she was on 435 southbound. She thought she could make it to the 23rd st. exit (not a place a woman wants to be on her own, but whatever) until she remembered me and decided that if she passed out (which was sure to happen) I would get hurt in the accident. She pulled over, called 911, Grandma, Grandpa, Daddy, and Aunt Kelly hoping SOMEONE would be able to rescue her. This was all done with the air full blast and the seat reclined. Grandma and Grandpa met her on the side of the road, along with the perimetics (thanks, MAST) and Daddy met her at the hospital/doctor's office. Aunt Kelly took care of things at Mommy's school for her. Mommy's own doctor wasn't in but Dr. Morgan took good care of her. They sent her in for glucose testing and they think she might be low on iron...all because of little ME. I'm not even 2 pounds, yet!! After some Margartita's (the restaurant, not the drink) Mommy felt better. Maybe there's something to this blood sugar thing after all. Seems odd this is all happening at once, though. I'm really sorry, Mom. I love you.

Love,
Sophia

Yep, Mom, Already

This week I gave Mom and excuse to put her feet up. It's been a rough week for us. Marking the first week in our third trimester it started off just how everyone said it would be. Monday Mommy and I woke up because she heard a ringing...in her ears. Though slighty disconcerting, Mommy called the doctor and he didn't seem concerned. On Wednesday, Mommy felt something similar to menstral cramps (she said she'd explain those in about ten to twelve years). They got a little worse but weren't in a rythym. So what does a rational first-time-pregnant woman do? She called her doctor at 1:00am. He was SORT of concerned, but just told her to take some Tylenol. That worked. Crazy. Apprently someone needs a medical degree to figure that out. Finally, on Friday, Mommy and her two coworkers (Harriet and Christina) found out that I had turned her feet into sausages and she now had cankles. Horrified, Mommy couldn't stop staring. So she took a picture. After lots of advice from Grandma and Aunt Kelly and Aunt Kim, she put her feet up and took it easy. Today they look more normal. Whew. What a week. Hope next week is better. Hope you enjoy the emabrassing pictures of swollen feet.

Happy Easter

For those of you that don't know (though I'm sure that's not very many), this is my puppy Daisy. She is posing for a picture with me and Mommy. Daddy calls us three "his girls" and says we're always up to trouble of some sort. It's kind of true, though I claim complete innocence at this point. Isn't Daisy cute? We are already great friends. She licks me sometimes and she LOVES to jump up on me. I don't think Mommy likes it when that happens. I bet Daisy and I have all sorts of fun adventures in the next few years. Tea party anyone?

Here is my Uncle Todd. His birthday and my due date are the same day! Maybe that's why he's got a belly like Mommy's. For a while there he had a more impressive bump but I think I am finally giving him a run for his money!
Hope everyone had a great Easter. I can't wait until next year when I get an Easter basket from the Easter bunny. I sure enjoyed the candy that Mommy ate for me this year. It was great.
Love,
Sophie

I'm a Little Ballerina

I've been moving all around my mommy's belly. It's quite cozy in here. I hear my mom, dad, and my puppy, Daisy, all laughing and talking and barking with one another. Today is Daisy's birthday. She's going to enjoy the attention while it lasts because I'm going to come, soon. In almost 16 weeks, to be more specific.

Mom and Dad got a rocker for me. Mom put new knobs on her old beat up dresser and they both brought up my changing table from the basement. Now my room looks more like a nursery instead of a holding cell for trash and unwanted items. It looks gooooood.

All I know is, I am very excited to meet my Mommy and Daddy. And I have a feeling they are pretty anxious to meet me, too.

Busy Bees

Mommy and Daddy have sure been busy. Mommy planned my nursery and Daddy got to paint it. He did a really fantastic job. I can't wait to live in it! Mommy's been busy buying things (her favorite thing to do). She bought me a beautiful bookshelf off etsy.com and a rocker from Amazon. She is a woman of the new century, that mother of mine.

I said hello to Mommy at the doctor again this Monday. The doctor doesn't ever really tell Mommy much, but my heartbeat was 160 and I'm growing strong. You can tell, because Mommy's starting to wonder when she'll see her toes again. Well, just 17ish weeks until I get to meet everyone. Can't wait!

Sophie
